Lost Coast Trail

Spanning from Mattole to Black Sands Beach, this 24.6-mile trail offers one of the few coastal hiking experiences in the United States. It features stunning ocean views, encounters with wildlife such as sea lions and deer, and an abundance of wildflowers in spring. Due to impassable tide sections, hikers must check tide schedules and obtain a backcountry permit for overnight stays.

Hidden Valley Trail

This trail stretches for 9 miles from Hidden Valley to Needle Rock in Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. It offers moderate elevation changes and transitions from dense forests to expansive coastal views. Hikers can continue an additional 19 miles through Sinkyone Wilderness State Park.

PARADISE ROYAL MT. BIKE TRAIL

Discover the Paradise Royale Loop in Northern California's Lost Coast for an epic mountain biking adventure. Nestled near Queen Peak, this 25-mile trail system offers diverse terrain and breathtaking views. Best ridden clockwise, it features a thrilling, long descent on the east side. Start at Tolkan Campground, enjoy a gradual descent to Bear Creek, tackle the challenging "Fools Paradise" climb, and then reward yourself with an exhilarating descent. Explore the 5.6-mile out-and-back trail on the Lost Coast, a moderately challenging route that typically takes about 2 hours to complete. Ideal for birding, camping, and hiking, this trail offers the chance for solitude during quieter times. Open year-round, it showcases the stunning beauty of the Lost Coast in every season. Dogs are welcome and can be off-leash in certain areas. Horse Mountain Creek Trail

Located 4.5 miles from the Shelter Cove Road/Chemise Mountain Road intersection, this trail offers a quieter and less traveled route, making it perfect for those seeking solitude.

Lightning Trail

At 16 miles from Shelter Cove, this trail features steep climbs and breathtaking views from higher elevations. It's ideal for experienced hikers looking for a challenging adventure.
